Blizzcon, Day 0
Some fun stuff happened today.
Started the day by hanging out in the Marriott lobby with a bunch of people from other fansites. All told, I think I talked with people from WoWHead, Allakhazam, Wow-achievements, WoW Radio, Azeroth.fr, The Escapist and probably one or two I’m forgetting because I’m really bad with names. After a little while, Bashiok ushered us into a bus and we headed for Blizzard HQ.
The place is impressive. A little smaller than I expected but it’s spread out across multiple buildings (and there’s a really awesome statue of what I think is probably Doomhammer in the main courtyard). First we went into the theater area and watched Bashiok play Diablo 3 for a bit (I can’t talk about this much). Afterward, we split up by franchise and Nethaera guided us around the World of Warcraft development area (nope, can’t talk about this either). Then, lunch with some of the developers, which thankfully I can talk about because Dr. Ghostcrawler himself was there (along with Monte Krol, the Lead Tools Programmer, and one of the two Lead Gameplay Programmers whose name I missed… but it was either Sam Lantinga or Patrick Magruder).
Conversation topics of note:
1. Ghostcrawler hates Heroic Strike
2. The Lead Gameplay Programmer that was in attendance plays a Prot Paladin
3. If Ghostcrawler could replace Arthas with a crustacean, it would be a lobster.
Anyway, it was pretty fun to just sit down and chat WoW with them. The conversation ranged all over the place and was very casual — no grilling the developers for front page interview material, just hanging out and eating lunch. Lots of fun.
Afterward, we went and watched something I’m not allowed to talk about at all (it wasn’t WoW-related so don’t worry yourselves too hard) and were presented with some awesome artwork framed and signed by Wei Wang himself. Then, back on the bus and back to the hotels. I may end up meeting up with some of the fansite guys later on.
Then I went and got my press badge. No line for press people, just walked up and got it, along with my goody bag and Grunty code. The big things this year are the Raynor n00b figure, the Grunty code, and a special edition Authenticator (which is just like the normal ones but with Blizzcon art on it).
I’m really excited for tomorrow!

Jesus! you tell us nothing! can’t wait for tomorrow either.
Hope you can tell us more.
Hope you had fun. I for one appreciate all the work you and Cider did commenting during the panels, as while I purchased the web stream, I had to come in to work today(US military here in Korea), so while I stayed up til 3 to watch the opening ceremony I missed the WoW panels. Damned DoD computers and their lack of streaming.
you’re stupid and this blog sucks and i hate you
